Here&rsquo;s what it actually means and why people are genuinely excited (and worried) about it.</p> <h2 id="the-short-version">The short version</h2> <p>A regular AI model answers a question and stops. An <strong>agentic AI</strong> can take actions, make decisions across multiple steps, and loop until a goal is accomplished — without a human in the loop for every move.</p> <p>Think of the difference like this: asking a model &ldquo;how do I fix this bug?&rdquo; is conversational AI. Giving it access to your codebase, a terminal, and telling it &ldquo;fix the bug&rdquo; is agentic AI.</p>
